Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Merchandiser to lead department-level planning and trading across store and online channels for this longstanding, fast-paced retailer.

Senior Merchandiser Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support for the Head of Merchandising and deputising when required
  • Lead and mentor merchandisers and junior merchandisers, providing guidance and supporting their career development
  • Collate and analyse season performance to inform strategy and highlight sales trends
  • Collaborate with the buying team to develop WSSI plans, create effective strategies, and build balanced, commercial ranges
  • Approve orders, ensuring they align with department and margin plans, and buying timelines, whilst highlighting potential risks to the Head of Merchandising
  • Identify core product lines for in-store and e-commerce
  • Establish pricing strategies for each product and department, ensuring they align with the company’s strategy and margin
  • Support the Head of Merchandising with the build and management of WSSI for all channels
  • Review store and web performance against plans, taking action to maximise sales and profit
  • Share KPIs with the buying team, flagging risks to the Head of Merchandising
  • Plan and review markdowns and promotional activity, ensuring all are in line with the company strategy
  • Liaise with the e-commerce team on online promos and email features

Senior Merchandiser Skills and Experience:

  • Experience as a Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser, gained within an e-commerce or retail environment
  • Solid knowledge of WSSI, OTB, and margin planning
  • Commercial mindset and confident decision-making skills
  • Strong analytical skills, with commercial acumen
  • Team leadership experience with a collaborative approach
  • Excellent communication skills, confident liaising at all levels
