Finance Assistant

My client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Assistant to join their office-based team in Hexham. This role covers a broad range of finance responsibilities including billing, credit management, treasury, accounts payable, and expense processing. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, experience with ERP systems, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile customer orders, billing, and payments for UK and Export clients.
  • Perform credit control duties, including monitoring accounts, chasing payments, and issuing credit/debit notes.
  • Manage daily banking transactions, reconciliations, and cash forecasting.
  • Accurately process supplier invoices using three-way matching, resolving discrepancies with procurement and budget holders.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and ensure timely payments in line with agreed terms.
  • Handle internal and external finance queries, supporting the wider finance team with month-end tasks and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business operations and process improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience using ERP systems (NetSuite experience desirable).
  • Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Effective prioritisation and time management.
  • Initiative-driven and reliable.
  • Proven administration and finance experience.
  • Strong numeracy and understanding of AP & AR processes.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
