A highly prestigious Local Authority is looking to recruit a Contract Manager on an interim basis to focus on the Council’s Savings and Transformation programme. This is part of a longer term agenda that is designed to achieve savings and increase income for the Council during a time where they are asked to provide more services with a leaner budget.
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Communication with suppliers on the need to meet in order to scope out and deliver opportunities for savings and increased income
- Consideration of the changes in service specifications (reductions) and the savings achievable – this could include but is not limited to service frequency reductions, stopping parts of the service, using technology instead, and staffing re-structures
- Learning from other Local Authorities
- Diagnostic on our Contract Register and highlighting the key categories for negotiations
- Need to upskill contract managers so the Council has the internal skills for the longer-term
- Working closely with Strategic Procurement
This assignment will be suited to someone who has previous Local Authority experience and board range of procurement category experience.
