Field Site Supervisor. This full-time position is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with hands-on expertise in rotating machinery and hydroelectric generators. The role involves working across multiple sites both within the UK and abroad, so a willingness to travel internationally is essential.
The role is focused on safety, planning, and communication. Key duties include managing project risks through RAMS, aligning tasks with project timelines, coordinating resources, maintaining quality documentation for rotating equipment, and ensuring effective communication with both the team and the client to uphold high standards and project efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide overall guidance and oversight for team safety and all related operations
- Create detailed assessments of potential hazards and outline procedural steps (RAMS) to manage risks, while clearly defining work scope for both team members and the client
- Ensure all relevant personnel, including the Quality Engineer and client representatives, are fully informed of RAMS
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to build a practical and achievable schedule that reflects staffing needs and estimated timelines
- Track project performance against the established timeline and introduce solutions to address delays or risks to progress
Skills & Experience required:
- Skilled professional in fitting
- Completed an apprenticeship and holds a technical qualification from a further education institution
- Holds a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent technical credential
- Proven hands-on background working on-site with high-voltage AC and DC rotating machinery, including motors and generators
- Strong track record in servicing vertical hydroelectric generators
- Proactive, adaptable, and safety-aware team player with strong communication skills
- Practical experience in conducting risk analyses, understanding electrical safety protocols, performing inspections, and taking precision measurements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and passport
