HR Administrator – Office-Based (Gateshead)
Up to £28,000 | Full-time | Permanent | Busy, supportive HR team
We’re working with a growing, fast-paced HR team based in Gateshead to find an experienced HR Administrator who’s confident managing the detail and keen to build their HR career.
This role would suit someone who already has solid HR admin experience and is now looking to deepen their knowledge, take on more responsibility, and develop over time into an HR Advisor position.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing HR admin across the full employee lifecycle – from onboarding and audits to issuing letters and updating records.
- Supporting the team with DBS checks, visa renewals, and document management.
- Taking clear and accurate notes during confidential meetings.
- Working closely with line managers and employees to provide day-to-day support and clear communication.
- Collating timesheets and working with the payroll team to ensure accuracy.
- Supporting internal audits and helping maintain compliance with safer recruitment processes.
- Playing a part in improving processes and taking ownership of small projects as your confidence grows.
What we’re looking for:
- Essential: At least one year of hands-on experience in an HR admin role – you’re comfortable managing files, systems, and processes with accuracy.
- Naturally organised and focused on the detail, especially when it comes to compliance and documentation.
- Friendly, approachable and comfortable supporting people at all levels.
- Able to manage your own workload in a busy environment, using your initiative to keep things moving.
- Willing to complete a DBS check.
- Beneficial: Knowledge of Ofsted or safer recruitment guidance is a plus but not essential—training can be provided.
What’s on offer:
- A permanent, full-time role based in a well-equipped Gateshead office (with free parking).
- Salary up to £28,000 depending on experience.
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Paid sick leave after probation and with continued service.
- A genuinely supportive team environment that encourages development.
- Clear opportunities to grow into an HR Advisor role with the right support and mentoring.
