Interim Financial Accountant

Ivy Rock Partners are proud to be partnering with a leading organisation within the education sector who are looking to recruit an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to join their team on a short-term contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting statutory reporting processes, and ensuring timely and accurate financial outputs during a period of transition and reporting pressure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant with public sector or education experience, looking to make a meaningful impact in a values-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset management, and journals.
• Review and improve existing financial processes to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including management accounts and variance analysis.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting queries and support wider finance transformation initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong technical background.
• Prior experience working within the education, public sector, or not-for-profit environment is highly desirable.
• Hands-on approach, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and work autonomously.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards and compliance requirements in the public/education sector.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in working with non-finance colleagues.
